Goris, located in the south of Armenia, in the heart of Syunik province, is a place where beautiful nature and historical sites intertwine. My visit to Goris became an unforgettable experience, full of adventure, admiration and warm hospitality.
The road to Goris
The road from Yerevan to Goris was extraordinary in itself. Goris is located about 250 km south of Yerevan, and the road passes through beautiful views of the Ararat Valley, and then rises into the boundless nature of the Syunik Highlands. Looking at every step of the way, I admired the beautiful nature that surrounded us.
Wonders of Nature
Goris is famous for its wonderful natural scenery and cave dwellings. The city is surrounded by high mountains and rocky valleys that stretch into the distance. On the first day, I visited a forest called the “Stone Forest” a place where stone pillars with unique shapes stand. These stone pillars resemble human figures and seem to be huge stone shadows.
Tatev Monastery and the “Wings of Tatev”
Not far from Goris is the Tatev Monastery, which is one of the most famous historical and spiritual sites in Armenia. To reach Tatev, we used the cable car called “Wings of Tatev”, which is considered the longest suspended cable car in the world. Looking out from the cable car, the view of the Vorotan Gorge opened up, which completed the charm of my visit. Tatev Monastery stands on the edge of an abyss and is impressive with its medieval architecture and spiritual atmosphere.
Cave dwellings of Goris
Goris is also famous for its cave dwellings, where people lived in the past. I visited some of these caves, which have now been turned into museums and reveal the daily life of ancient Armenians. Cave dwellings the breath of the past was felt inside, and a new story was revealed around every corner.
The hospitality of the locals
During my visit, I had the opportunity to get to know the locals, who gave me unforgettable memories with their hospitality and warmth. Together we prepared traditional Armenian dishes such as khashlama, barbecue, and of course, delicious gata. Thanks to their hospitality, my journey became not only full of beautiful views, but also full of open-hearted people.
Farewell to Goris
When the time came to say goodbye to Goris, I felt great regret, but also infinite gratitude for everything I saw and experienced. Goris is a place where the past and the present are intertwined, where nature and history are combined. My memories of Goris will be in my heart forever and I hope to return again one day.

4 июля, 2023Երբ դուրս եմ գալիս մեքենայից և նայում Գեղարդի վանքը շրջապատող սարերին, ինձ թվում է, թե ես այլ աշխարհ եմ մտել, մի վայր, որտեղ ժամանակը կանգ է առնում: Օդը փխրուն է, իր հետ տանում է հին քարի բույրն ու անցյալ դարերի շշուկները: Վանքն ինքնին կարծես փորագրված է ժայռից, նրա մոխրագույն պատերը անխափան կերպով միախառնվում են խորդուբորդ ժայռերի հետ, որոնք օրորում են այն: Կարծես բնությունն ինքն է ընդունել այս սուրբ վայրը՝ պաշտպանելով այն արտաքին աշխարհից: Նեղ մուտքով քայլելով՝ ինձ ապշեցնում է ներսի զովությունը, որը խիստ հակադրվում է դրսի արևի ջերմությանը: Լռությունը գրեթե շոշափելի է, մխիթարիչ թիկնոցի պես փաթաթվում է ինձ։ Իմ յուրաքանչյուր քայլը մեղմ արձագանք է տալիս՝ արձագանքելով քարե միջանցքների միջով: Լույսը աղոտ է, թափանցում է վերևում գտնվող նեղ պատուհանների միջով, երկար ստվերներ է գցում, որոնք պարում են պատերին: Կարծես հենց այդ քարերը կենդանի են, շշնջում են հավատքի, նվիրվածության և պատմության պատմություններ: Ես կանգ եմ առնում գեղեցիկ փորագրված խաչքարի առջև, որի խճճված խաչքարը մեղմորեն փայլում է աղոտ լույսի ներքո: Արհեստագործությունը ապշեցուցիչ է, յուրաքանչյուր դետալ խնամքով պատված է դարեր առաջ ապրած ձեռքերով: Ես գրեթե զգում եմ նրանց ներկայությունը, նրանց նվիրվածությունն ու հավատը, որոնք դաջված են յուրաքանչյուր գծի և կորի մեջ: Խոնարհություն է կանգնել այստեղ, մի վայրում, որն այնքան շատ բան է տեսել, որտեղ հարյուրավոր տարիներ շարունակ աղոթքներ են հնչել: Երբ ես խորանում եմ դեպի վանք, օդը դառնում է ավելի զով, և խաղաղության զգացումն ավելի է ուժեղանում: Պատերը կարծես շնչում են՝ իրենց մեջ պահելով այստեղ մխիթարություն փնտրողների գաղտնիքները։ Ես չեմ կարող մի պահ չփակել աչքերս՝ թույլ տալով, որ հանգստությունը ներթափանցի իմ հոգում: Այս վայրում խորապես հոգևոր բան կա, ինչ-որ բան, որը գերազանցում է բառերը: Երբ ես վերջապես հետ եմ քաշվում դրսում, սարերն էլ ավելի շքեղ են թվում, նրանց գագաթները հասնում են մինչև երկինք, ասես աղոթելիս: Արևը մայր է մտնում՝ ոսկեգույն շողեր սփռելով լանդշաֆտի վրա: Ես խորը շունչ եմ քաշում՝ կապ զգալով ոչ միայն այս վայրի, այլ պատմության, ժողովրդի և հենց երկրի հետ:
Գեղարդը պարզապես վանք չէ, այն հավատքի, տոկունության և մարդկային ոգու գեղեցկության կենդանի վկայությունն է: Եվ երբ ես հեռանում եմ, ես գիտեմ, որ իմ մի մասն ընդմիշտ կմնա այստեղ՝ տեղավորված այս հին քարերի մեջ՝ Հայաստանի սրտում:
